Re: ISC Services 2010 Mortality Tables & Life Expectancy Calculator Enhancements

Based on our most recent Mortality Study, we are implementing our 2010 mortality tables, effective June 1, 2010. We are also introducing the latest enhancements to our Life Expectancy calculator.

In general, changes to the mortality table include the following:

  1. Overall the average increase in LEs from 2009 to 2010, without mortality wear-off, is 2.0%. For cases where wear-off patterns are applied, the average increase is 3.7%.
  2. For lives below age 70, slightly shorter life expectancies can be expected, while slight extensions to be expected for ages over 70.
  3. For Smokers, changes are minor.

While not significantly different than our 2009 tables, we realize you may want recent cases (cases underwritten on or after February 1, 2010), re-quoted.  If your account is current, we will provide updated LEs on up to 10 cases at no charge. Simply email a list of the case you would like recalculated to newcases@iscservices.com and we will provide you the re-quoted LE. If you would like a new assessment issued, that will be handled through our regular process.
We are also announcing the release of our latest enhancements to our calculator. ISC Services is unique in its ability to wear-off the excess mortality. For certain medical conditions, the longer a person lives and survives with that medical condition the less percentage impact that condition will have going forward compared to standard mortality (see diagram 1 below). That is, the debits will not remain constant, but will wear-off as the individual ages. ISC Services impairment patterns are both age and severity sensitive. As part of the 2010 table release, we have implemented the wear-off factors to continue our focus on providing the most accurate LEs in the industry.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you and we appreciate your business!
